Whatever It Takes! - A Prayer for the Nation
Today is National Day of Prayer. Pray the hardest prayer possible. See what God may do.
"Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands far away; for truth has stumbled in the public squares, and uprightness cannot enter. Truth is lacking, and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. The Lord saw it, and it displeased him that there was no justice." - Isaiah 59:14-15
Lord, our courts of law oppose the righteous, and justice is nowhere to be found. Truth stumbles in the streets, and honesty have been outlawed. Indeed, truth is gone! And anyone who renounces evil is attacked...
"Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness..." - Isaiah 5:20
Lord, we have gone from calling evil good to calling good evil in this nation. Today, vice is a virtue and virtue is now a vice. In the eyes of the world, a sinful man is seen as good and a righteous man is an outlaw. Evil deeds are viewed as good - good deeds are now seen as evil.
Lord, our nation has turned its collective back on you. We are reaping a harvest of unmitigated evil and brokenness because we've sown seeds of generational national sin. Please don’t give us over to more futility or darkening hearts.
Lord, you are shaking everything that can be shaken, including your church - which has grown worldly, timid, and lukewarm. As a result, dysfunction, confusion, and rampant evil are decimating our families and communities.
We repent and turn to Jesus Christ - Who is Lord over all nations.
Forgive us! We ask for mercy!
Do whatever it takes! Lord, bring us back to you.
You are never far away. (See Acts 17:27)
So, we call on the the name of Christ Jesus from a far country. We know you are a good Father. You discipline those you love. Our obedience is an expression of our love for you! May we not presume upon your goodness and generosity toward us in our rebellion.
“Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?” - Romans 2:4
By grace through faith, turn our hearts toward you, Lord.
Amen
