A Devotion
Lord, oh how I have taken your grace for granted!
How, in my pride, I elevate myself in my own heart and mind.
How I diminish my own sin and point to the sin of others.
I remember listening to an episode of the Just Thinking Podcast entitled, "Indwelling Sin in Believers." I was reminded that there are no 'secret sins.' EVERYTHING is laid bare before God. He sees EVERYTHING - even my most vile and well-camouflaged sins and transgressions. He can see all things - even hidden things. My deceitful eyes are blinded, but the Lord sees.
Yet, He shines the light of truth and cuts with the knife of conviction, removing the cancer of my sin. He separates it as far as the east is from the west.
Then, the Lord gently pours His healing grace upon the wound - bringing forgiveness, healing, and restoration, by grace through faith.
"Come let us walk in the light of the Lord."
- Isaiah 2:5
Ken Boa said, "God never plays guessing games with us, baiting us with clues about His will for our lives. He doesn't punish us for our wrong inferences. Instead, He gives us His word of truth and then teaches it to us. If we listen, obey, and walk in that truth, we will live abundantly."
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, you see everything... even my hidden sin. Search me Lord and reveal any wickedness in me that I might confess what you already know. Help me to repent and remember there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Help me to remember that I am a new creation in Christ, the old self has died with Him. May I walk in the newness of life and recall your mercies are new everyday. You have given me your Word (the Bible) and your indwelling spirit (the Holy Spirit) who teaches me the deep truths of your Word. Finally, you grant me the grace sufficient for me every moment of my life as I journey toward the Celestial City. May I walk in the Light of the Lord with your Word as a lamp upon my path. Never may I take your heavenly grace for granted again!
